Where there is no fault, fault finder still finds faults in fissured facts even if he knows the intent is clear. This is the story of Mayas vs. Kushi.
I would have stayed calm to enjoy my quiet life as I am neither paid by Fintiri like Kushi or a party spokesman like Mayas but I am perturbed that some things when said and not taunted will be retained by innocent shoppers as the authentic position as there will be no different point to clear their interpretation.
Sometimes when a counter argument comes up, it is not necessarily the superior argument but simply another point of view to save people from idiosyncrasy of diminishing political façade that seeks to retain relevance.
I am a man from a humble background; I have lived among lowly and have also tasted the high life that comes only for affluent few. I know what it means to fail and I have received also accolades of an achiever. These taught me to celebrate the good deeds of others (even if I don’t like their faces) when I see them succeed. I am also audacious to criticize mediocrity where it is obvious. I don't believe that the best is gotten by comparison of one value against another. The best as far as I know is outstanding and is unique; therefore it needs not to be put side by side with anything else.
To my point of argument: I think it is blatant refusal to acknowledgement of success to say that Fintiri’s approach to Governance is cosmetic.
For those who understand democracy, would tell us that no genuine opposition criticizes or dismisses good works simply because it is done by opposition. Opposition holds government accountable, and points out ways to do things better. “The Opposition also utilises the media to reach the electorate with its views and to establish an identity as an alternative government.” Not garbage of insult of personalities and cheap blackmail that we see from name-seeking political errand-boys.
To be in the opportunity is an opportunity to scrutinize the party in power to deliver better administration. “The Opposition’s main role is to question the government of the day and hold them accountable.” To be a watchdog of public interests is a great role, that is exactly what opposition is positioned to do in a democracy, it is their eagle eye that keeps the ruling party on its toes. It is not about just finding faults but critical look into issues and programs then criticizing the policies and programs of the government which is understandably clear to be of no good interest of the general public.
It is cluelessness to say one thing is bad without saying how it can be good. If Fintiri builds a small flyover in Yola today it will remain there after he has finished his term and that is for Adamawa State not for the Madagali born servant leader. To allege that projects are "conduit pipe" this I would suggest that Mayas may have to be asked to bring his facts to the table to so that financial crime institutions can do their due diligence.
Recently, argument and counter argument about who is better between the All Progressive Congress and the People's Democratic Party in Adamawa State, so te it has gotten to the extent of personal attacks and names-calling that is degenerating into a dirty politics that is not synonymous with Adamawa State.
Understandbly, being in opposition is still surprising to the APC in Adamawa State seeing that they still hold the centre. The decimal performance of last APC government in Adamawa State has so far been magnified by two years transformational government of the Fintiri led administration. I think when you juxtapose the two, the balance is the annoying fact that APC had better opportunities to steal the glory but they failed.
Come to think of it, what should be the interest of a serious political office holder? What should we be talking about? Who did better or what can be done better? The argument about performance of elective Office holders should not have been our concern now but deepening of our democracy through effective engagement of electorates and providing them the best system that promotes egalitarian society and a place where rights are respected.
Democracy is about the right of the people; it is about giving to people their own government, I have said it before let me say it again that Fintiri knows democracy.
When we put political parties side by side we should be seeing how each has promoted good governance, brought holistic development and given power to the people. Any thing short of that it isn’t democracy any more.
As Mayas is trying hard to build argument about abandonment of the rural areas, non-concern for the Numan Federation, syphoning of funds and so on, I hear different feedback from all areas. I must commend M.A Mayas for his effort to justify his position as assistant publicity Secretary of the APC in Adamawa
For me, I think we all love Adamawa State, if that is true then let’s celebrate the good things that democracy has given us through the working governor.
